ELIZABETH
Elizabeth, 15 miles south of Pittsburgh, is a 0.4-square-mile Borough with population 1,493. Located on the east bank of the Monangehela, the river plays an important part in residents’ lives, serving as a hub for both recreation — including Riverfront Park — and coal barge/riverboat travel. Downtown is home to numerous small businesses, theaters, and restaurants.
Riverfest
Every year in July, the Elizabeth Borough Fire Department hosts a Riverfest summer festival. It features activities for all ages — a parade, live music, vendors, bingo, rides for kids, and fireworks, all located on the riverfront.
